Hunter Buildings is pleased to announce Michael Draper as the modular and blast-resistant building firm’s chief operating officer.
In his new role, which took effect March 1, 2022, Draper is responsible for overseeing Hunter’s day-to-day operations. In addition, he will work with company leadership to implement strategic direction and values to move the company forward.
A seven-year veteran of Hunter, Draper previously served as chief financial officer. He brings more than 20 years of operational and financial experience to his work, with sectors including manufacturing, construction, specialty rental services, midstream/energy and telecommunications.
Draper earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Texas State University and is a certified public accountant. He still works closely with his alma mater, having served for more than 15 years on an advisory board for the school’s McCoy College of Business.
Prior work has placed him in leadership positions ranging from chief operating officer, to chief financial officer and director — for both public and private companies, and those ranging from start-ups to Fortune 100 endeavors.
The Texas native described the move as an exciting next step in his career.
“I’ve been deeply involved with the operational side of our company for a while now, but this new role gives me the opportunity to take that work to the next level,” he said. “I’m ready to help move Hunter Buildings ahead.”
Company President Sam LaVergne commended Draper for his new undertaking with the firm, noting that his colleague’s extensive experience, dedication to the company and can-do attitude make him uniquely prepared for the responsibilities.
“Michael Draper has been with us since 2015, and he has always proven himself to be a loyal company advocate,” LaVergne explained. “With his leadership, I know good things are in the future for both Hunter Buildings and the clients we serve.”
